Pendergast bringing 3-4 to USC?

Garry Paskwietz of WeAreSC on ESPN.com is reporting that Clancy Pendergast, whose resume includes stints with the NFL's Arizona Cardinals and, more recently, the California Golden Bears, will be announced soon as the new defensive coordinator for the USC Trojans. Paskwietz says this may lead to a scheme change for USC: "One of the interesting elements of this hire is the fact that Pendergast has primarily used a 3-4 defense in the past, while the Trojans have run a 4-3 in recent years. There has been a lot of speculation that USC would look to employ a 3-4 look in the future as a way to better combat the spread offenses run by several Pac-12 schools."
