Watch List OL Crowder plans visits

Over the weekend, ESPNU 150 Watch List offensive lineman Tyrone Crowder competed in the Nike Football SPARQ Combine in Charlotte where he ran a 5.44 40-yard dash, jumped 25.6 inches in the vertical and threw the power ball 36 feet.

When it comes to recruiting, Crowder has 14 scholarship offers from some of the elite programs in the country including Alabama, Florida State, Georgia and Tennessee.

“Everything is kind of even,” Crowder said. “I’m going to take some visits to schools before I narrow it down.”

The Rockingham, N.C., native has already visited in-state schools Duke, North Carolina and North Carolina State. He has plans to visit to Florida next month and would also like to make trips to Alabama and Georgia in the near future.

It would be Crowder’s second visit to UA as he visited Tuscaloosa in January for the Crimson Tide’s first junior day.

“They have a great program, great coaches,” Crowder said. “I went down there for junior day and toured around the campus. It was a good trip. It was a long trip to get there, but it was worth it. I talked to Coach (Jeff) Stoutland and Coach (Nick) Saban.

When Crowder met with Saban, the Alabama head coach offered him a scholarship to play offensive guard for the Tide. The 6-foot-2, 320-pound prospect plays tackle for his high school but projects as a guard at the next level.

He describes his style of blocking as explosive and says he also likes to pull block, a technique Alabama often utilizes in their running game.

Crowder may not be close to a decision right now, but as soon as he knows what school is best for him, he won’t be afraid to go ahead and commit.

“If I decide that that’s the school that I want to go to before signing day, I’m going to go ahead and make my decision.”
