Tide inks two top-20 prospects

Alabama locked up its second top-20 prospect Wednesday when Cyrus Jones signed with the Crimson Tide in his hometown of Baltimore, Md. He joined Eddie Williams, the No. 2 athlete in the ESPNU 150, as members of Alabama’s No. 1 rated 2012 signing class.

Jones is the No. 4 athlete in the ESPNU 150 and projects to play defensive back at Alabama. The 5-foot-11, 185-pound athlete also has the potential to make an impact on the offensive side of the ball. He rushed for 948 yards and 13 touchdowns and hauled in 39 receptions for 635 yards and six scores his senior year at Gilman High School.

Jones had offers from Auburn, Stanford, Florida, Michigan, Notre Dame and a slew of other BCS schools.

Williams was the first verbal commitment in the 2012 class for Alabama, pledging his services to the Tide more than a year ago. The Panama City, Fla., product projects at either safety or linebacker on defense. Like Jones, Williams could play offense as well, with the size and speed to play at wide receiver or possibly tight end. The 6-foot-4, 210-pound athlete has offers from Georgia, Florida, Florida State, Notre Dame and Miami.
