Over the weekend, ESPN 100 shooting guard JaJuan Johnson (Memphis, Tenn./Southwind) took his third and final official visit to Marquette for the Golden Eagles’ Midnight Madness festivities.
“It went good,” he said. “The atmosphere was crazy because it’s a basketball town. They had pictures and signs with my name on it.”
Johnson has narrowed his list to Alabama, Marquette and Miami and says a decision will come soon, probably in the next 10 to 12 days. The 6-foot-5 guard talked about his other two finalists, the Crimson Tide and the Hurricanes.
Alabama: “It’s a good program. They think they’re only a couple years from competing for a championship, and it’s like three hours away.”
Miami: “I can come in and get immediate playing time because they have a need there, and I feel like I can be one of the big names when I get there.”
Although it looks like Johnson is planning to make his decision before the early signing period in November, he wants to wait until the spring before he signs his letter of intent.
“I’m just going to commit,” he said. “I don’t think I’m going to sign until the spring because I’ve seen the teams practice, but I really haven’t seen them play. I want to see them play, so I can see myself in the system.”
Johnson is ranked No. 62 overall in the ESPN 100 rankings.
