TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- ESPN Watch List running back Racean Thomas (Oxford, Ala./Oxford) has made Tuscaloosa a second home this fall. He’s been to nearly every Crimson Tide home game, and he was back again on Saturday for the Mississippi State game.
“That game was fun,” Thomas said. “I just got back down there again, saw those guys again, talked to some of the coaches again, and it was really just another experience for me.
“It’s pretty much becoming a home feeling for me because all of those guys talk talk to me like we’ve known each other for a long time.”
Thomas hasn’t committed anywhere yet, but he’s already developed strong relationships with the UA coaches and a few of the players, including running backs T.J. Yeldon and Dee Hart. He watched Yeldon rush for 84 yards and a touchdown Saturday.
In general, Thomas has been impressed with how the Tide use their running backs.
“They’re doing great,” he said. “It’s good to see them putting in young guys, not just at the end of the game. They just really have a good rotation.”
On his latest visit, Thomas once again met with the Alabama coaching staff.
“They were just asking me how my last game went from the Friday before,” he said. “They were just trying to catch up with me and get an update with me, how I’m feeling and stuff like that.”
The junior running back is trying to visit LSU this weekend as the Tigers are set to host the Alabama. He also plans to be back in Tuscaloosa the following weekend for the Texas A&M game.
