Henry tops Bama commits in ESPN 150

Alabama’s newest commitment, four-star athlete Derrick Henry, just so happens to be the Crimson Tide’s top-ranked recruit in the latest ESPN 150.

Henry, who committed to Alabama in September, jumped up from No. 48 to No. 26 in the updated rankings, and it’s easy to see why with the season he’s having. Through nine games, he’s rushed for 2,866 yards and 38 touchdowns.

In all, the Tide placed nine commits in the ESPN 150 and landed five more in the ESPN 300. And Henry wasn’t the only Bama commit to ascend in the rankings. Defensive end Jonathan Allen and running back Tyren Jones also saw big jumps in the rankings.

Allen made the most noteworthy move, going from No. 71 to No. 40. He becomes the Tide’s third-highest recruit behind Henry and DeMarcus Walker (No. 35). Jones, who has enjoyed a prolific senior season rushing in the state of Georgia, moved up to No. 60 overall.

Despite sitting out a couple games due to injury, tight end O.J. Howard remains in the top 50 at No. 42. He’s ranked second at his position and is coming off a big playoff game in which he tallied eight receptions for 118 yards and three touchdowns.

Running back Altee Tenpenny, cornerback Maurice Smith, quarterback Cooper Bateman, and tight end Josh McNeil round out the Alabama contingent in the ESPN 150.
