Daily Dozen: Alabama-Mississippi game

MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- The first day of practice for the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Game kicked off on Tuesday, and the Alabama squad showed off its strength at the skill positions as well as on the defensive line. The game is on Saturday.

QB Jeremy Johnson

Mongtomery, Ala./Carver

Committed to Auburn

The first thing you notice is his size. Johnson is a legitimate 6-foot-5. He was able to make all the throws at Tuesday’s practice despite the colder conditions, including a perfectly placed ball over the receiver’s shoulder on a wheel route.

RB Johnathan Ford

New Hope, Ala./New Hope

Committed to Vanderbilt

Coming off an injury during the season, Ford looked to be 100 percent. He cut well and showed a good burst. He also runs low to the ground, making it difficult to bring him down.

WR Jason Smith

Mobile, Ala./McGill Toolen Catholic

Committed to Auburn

|A quarterback in high school, Smith worked out at wide receiver on Tuesday. He’s still adjusting to the new position, but you can see the speed. He’s a dynamic athlete who can make plays.

WR Jarren Johnson

Jackson, Ala./Jackson

Although he is one of the more under-the-radar players on the Alabama team, Johnson ran good routes all day, had a quick first step and caught most of the passes thrown his way.

OL Austin Golson

Prattville, Ala./Prattville

Committed to Florida State

Golson is clearly the best offensive lineman on Alabama’s team. Even though he’s going up against a stout defensive line group, he held his own all day and even had a few pancake blocks when it was all said and done.
