Rohan Bopanna and Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan lost to Adil Shamasdin and Andreas Siljestrom 6-4, 7-6(4) in the quarterfinal of the ongoing Chengdu Open on Thursday.

Bopanna and Nedunchezhiyan had previously defeated Feliciano Lopez and Juan Monaco in straight sets to make the quarters.

This was Bopanna's first tournament since the US Open, where him and his mixed doubles partner Gabriela Dabrowski had lost to Robert Farah and Anna-Lena Groenefeld in the quarterfinal. Though he was slated to play in the Davis Cup World play-offs earlier this month, he had withdrawn citing a knee injury.

Purav Raja and Divij Sharan also ended their campaign after losing 6-4, 6-3 to Nicholas Monroe and Artem Sitak, thereby ending India's challenge in the tournament. They had earlier defeated Dominic Inglot and Nenad Zimonjic in the pre-quarters.
