Defensive tackle Damien Jacobs (6-3/295, Gray, La./East Mississippi CC) took an official visit to Florida on Saturday to watch the Gators take on Furman. He came away impressed with what he saw and heard.
"It was good," Jacobs said, "real good. I liked everything about it. It was a very good visit."
Jacobs, who committed to Tennessee in late July, had a chance to sit down with Florida head coach Will Muschamp during the visit.
“I had a good conversation with coach Muschamp,” Jacobs said. “He just talked about how much he wanted me to be a Gator. He told me about the depth-chart situation and how much playing time would be available.”
Though he did not decommit from Tennessee, Jacobs said the visit improved Florida’s position for him.
"At this point right now, take it slow," he said. "I don’t want to rush into anything. But yeah, this moves Florida up my list. I might take a visit to Mississippi State in December. That would be the only other visit I take."
Jacobs said he probably will not make his final decision until after his final game on Dec. 4.
Florida wide receiver commit LaTroy Pittman also attended the Furman game on Saturday and had a chance to talk with Jacobs.
"We had a chance to talk; he told me he was committed to Tennessee," Pittman said. "He seemed to really be enjoying his visit from what I could tell."
