GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Florida may have had several top juniors on campus for junior day on Saturday, but that didn't stop them from extending another offer to a player who wasn't able to attend.
Columbus (Ga.) Carver wide receiver Marqui Hawkins said Florida head coach Will Muschamp called to offer him a scholarship Saturday morning.
The 6-foot-2, 190-pound receiver said Florida is the first school to offer him.
"It means a lot to me because it's going to bring more schools to offer me," Hawkins said. "I like Florida though. I'm still learning more about them, but I like the Florida coaching staff."
In addition to Florida, Hawkins said that he is receiving a lot of interest from Alabama and Tennesee.
Hawkins isn't ready to name a leader but said he grew up rooting for Alabama, Florida and Clemson.
Florida added a 2013 receiver on Saturday, as Rodney Adams (St. Petersburg, Fla./St. Pete Catholic) committed to the Gators.
