Weekend visitor preview: Dillard excited

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- ESPNU 150 Watch List offensive linemen Cameron Dillard (Canton, Mich./Canton) admittedly grew up a fan of the Florida Gators. The 6-foot-3, 290-pound guard prospect will make the trip to Gainesville this Saturday to watch the annual spring game.

Dillard says he is most excited about walking on to Florida Field for the first time.

"Probably what I am looking forward to the most is simply being at The Swamp," Dillard said. "I have watched a number of games on television over the years as I was growing up in North Carolina before moving to Michigan, so it will be like a dream come true to step on the same field as many great Florida players did before me.

"I am bringing with me a hat that I wore as a small kid until the brim almost fell off to show the coaches I was a Gator fan even when I was younger."

Dillard, who holds offers from over 20 schools, said that although he grew up a Florida fan, he has no favorite schools at this time.

"Every school that I have been blessed with a verbal offer has their own unique qualities about them," Dillard said. "After the spring, I am going to look at each program carefully to see which ones best fit for me from the three A’s -- atmosphere, athletics and academics."

Joining Dillard in Gainesville will be a multitude of top prospects.

Florida verbal commits Dillan Lawson, Caleb Brantley, James Hearns, Adam Lane, Rod Johnson, Rodney Adams, Nick Washington, Keanu Neal, Quinton Powell and Kelvin Taylor will all be in The Swamp on Saturday.

North Carolina quarterback prospect Connor Mitch will attend with his father. The Gators have yet to offer Mitch, but it's possible that could change after the weekend visit.

Offensive line prospects Josh Outlaw, Tyrone Crowder, Josh Cardiello, Jack Kurzu and Poet Thomas are expected to be in attendance.

Defensive prospects, including safeties Marcell Harris and Leon McQuay III, cornerbacks Adrian Baker and Tre' Bell, defensive ends Jonathan Allen, Joey Bosa and Carl Lawson, defensive tackle Greg Gilmore and linebacker John Kenny are all planning to attend.

Offensive prospects expected to attend include wide receivers Ahmad Fulwood, Carlos Burse, Richard Benjamin, Reggie Davis, Marqui Hawkins and running backs Josh Mercer and Ryan Green.
