Chat highlights: Florida recruiting galore

The staff of GatorNation just completed a live chat in The Chompions Club. We hit on all the football and recruiting subjects with our special guest, ESPN recruiting analyst Corey Long, who covers the state of Florida.

Click here for a complete transcript. Here are some highlights:

secrocks2000: Is there really such thing as a gentleman's agreement between [Will] Muschamp and [Urban] Meyer that says they won't recruit each others committed players? And if so did Meyer break it calling [UF linebacker commit James] Hearns?

Corey Long: Well look at it this way. Will Muschamp and Jimbo Fisher own a beach house together, and they will go after each other's commitments. So Urban Meyer and Muschamp have nothing holding them back from prospects.

Derek Tyson: Absolutely not. In fact, I've heard from a good source that Muschamp "would have gone after Meyer's recruits" if the roles were reversed.

Long: Some Gator fans need to get over Urban. He's not your boyfriend anymore, and he wants to win at Ohio State more than he loves Florida.

Joakim4Prez9713: What's up with these two basketball transfers still on the board?

Michael DiRocco: Damontre Harris is down to UF and Kansas, and Dorain Finney-Smith was supposed to choose between UF and Old Dominion last weekend, but so far no announcement. I think if Billy could only pick one, he'd take Harris.

Jeff Barlis: Florida is also in the mix for former Virginia Tech signee and ESPN 100 power forward Montrezl Harrell (Tarboro, N.C./Hargrave Military). He got out of his LOI when Seth Green was fired at VaTech. He is 6-foot-8 and 218 and could play next season.

urban21178: Who is the leader of this class going after other recruits?

Long: If you mean which recruit is working on other players, I think Ahmad Fulwood and Nick Washington are the leaders of that pack.

Tyson: Washington has really recruited Demarcus Walker and Fulwood, so I'd have to go with him right now.

Barlis: Gotta be one of the Jax boys -- Washington perhaps. I think Quinton Powell is also a bit of a recruiter.

dukeoden: Who do you feeling that last WR will be?

Long: I think Florida is going to see where Stacy Coley is academically before deciding on that next move.

Tyson: They would take Coley, but they really want a guy that can do multiple things. But if Coley can get his academics sorted out, then they may take Coley and call it a day. They also like Marquez North, Francis Owusu and Bailey, even though Bailey doesn't have an offer yet.

Barlis: UF also recently dropped in on Robert Foster, who is either the No. 2 or No. 3 WR in the ESPN 150. If he's still interested, Florida would be wise to pursue. Not sure how hard they are going after him, though.
