GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Nigel Patten (Miami, Fla./Booker T. Washington) wrapped up his summer tour at the University of Florida for Friday Night Lights.
The 5-foot-8, 159-pound cornerback showed off his blazing speed in taking home one of the awards for the defensive back position.
"Yeah, I really enjoyed my time," he said. "I came out here and competed and I won the fastest man in the defensive back challenge."
Patten was offered last week by Florida State after camping in Tallahassee. But on Friday night, he emerged from Ben Hill Griffin Stadium wearing a Gators hat and displaying his interest in the program.
"It was a great atmosphere," he said. "I liked everything about this school and how it is organized."
Though the Gators did not verbally offer the junior standout, he does feel it is just a matter of time.
"They haven't offered me yet, but I am looking forward to it," Patten said. "The defensive backs coach liked me a lot. He said that I could be great against the slot."
