14 prospects to watch for 2014 - offense

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- With Florida's 2013 class starting to wind down, it's time to start spotlighting the 2014 recruiting class. In this two-part series, GatorNation will give you a list of 14 players, seven on offense and seven on defense to keep an eye on for next year. We'll start on the offensive side of the ball where the Gators have already handed out multiple offers and have one commitment from wide receiver Ryeshene Bronson (Ft. Myers, Fla./Dunbar).

Leonard Fournette, RB, (New Orleans, La./St. Augustine)

With offers from Florida, Michigan, Alabama, LSU, Notre Dame and Texas, Fournette is already one of the most sought-after running backs in the country for 2014. Fournette was set to visit Florida for Friday Night Lights but his ride fell through. He said he does want to get to Gainesville at some point during the fall. Alabama might be the team to beat early on, but the Gators have certainly caught Fournette's attention.

Will Grier, QB, (Davidson, N.C./Davidson Day)

Grier camped at Florida over the summer and impressed the Florida coaches enough to earn an offer. Grier already holds offers from Tennessee, Florida, Wake Forest and UNC and will likely be one of the top signal-callers in the South. The Gators have positioned themselves well for the talented quarterback.

Johnnie Dixon, WR, (Palm Beach, Fla./Dwyer)

Dixon will be one of the top wide receivers in the southeast for 2014. Dixon, who holds offers from Florida, Ohio State, Alabama, Florida State and West Virginia, camped at Florida over the summer and was probably the top receiver in attendance, including 2013 prospects. Dixon is friends with Florida quarterback Jacoby Brissett and safety Matt Elam, both of whom went to Dwyer.

Tony James, RB, (Gainesville, Fla./Gainesville)

James is an electric athlete that can play running back or slot receiver. He's similar to Ryan Green in the 2013 class. James admittedly grew up a Florida fan and the Gators will be tough to beat for the speedster. He's also interested in Ohio State and has a good relationship with Buckeyes head coach Urban Meyer.

Garrett Brumfield, OG, (Baton Rouge, La./Laboratory School)

Brumfield attended Florida's camp in June and the 6-foot-3, 265-pound guard prospect quickly earned a Florida offer. Brumfield also holds offers from Miami, LSU and Florida State. The talented junior says distance will not be a factor, and the Gators are at the top of his list early on in the process.

Wade Freebeck, QB, (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla./Western)

Like Grier, Freebeck earned an offer after camping at Florida in June. The talented junior has a big-time arm and will certainly see his recruitment increase. With the Gators being the first school to offer, Florida is in good shape for Freebeck early on.

K.C. McDermott, OL, (Wellington, Fla./Palm Beach Central)

McDermott, who has early offers from Florida, Miami, Michigan, Notre Dame and Ohio State, visited Florida last Saturday to watch their preseason practice. The tackle prospect will be one of the most highly recruited linemen in Florida for 2014.
