With so many holes to fill on both sides of the ball and such a youth-dominated roster, Florida coach Will Muschamp has shown a willingness to look to the juco ranks for help. Here is where the Gators stand:
Visesio “Junior” Salt, DT, Mt. San Antonio College (6-foot-3, 340 pounds)
Date committed: Dec. 18
Expected Role in 2012: Two words -- run plugger. At 6-foot-3, 340-pounds, Salt will be used as a nose tackle in Florida’s 3-4 defense. Florida struggled to stop the run against more physical teams like Alabama and LSU this season. With his wide body, Salt is there to eat up double-teams and let the linebackers roam. Florida is thin on the defensive line, and Salt should see action early on.
