FSU commit Ryan Green to take UF visit

ESPN 150 running back Ryan Green (St. Petersburg, Fla./St. Pete Catholic) has been firm to Florida State since his commitment to the program in June.

But recently the 5-foot-10, 190-pound senior has been hearing from other schools quite a bit and hearing rumors about Jimbo Fisher’s future with the Seminoles.

It’s all enough that the 2013 Under Armour All-America Game participant will take a few official visits according to his father.

“He’s probably going to take an official to Florida,” Vader Green said. “And he might take two to three visits overall. We haven’t gotten the dates set up yet.”

Vader Green says that some rumors about Fisher being interested in the Auburn job is the cause for the decision. Fisher was Auburn’s quarterback coach under Terry Bowden from 1993-1998.

“Some rumors got back to Ryan and got him thinking a little bit,” Vader Green said. “It’s probably a good thing to take a couple of visits.”

However, Green wants to assure FSU fans that are having flashbacks to Dante Fowler Jr.’s topsy-turvy recruitment that his son is solid to FSU as long as Fisher is the head coach.

“Ryan is very firm to Florida State and he will be going there as long as Coach Fisher and his staff are in Tallahassee,” Vader Green added. “We are very happy with the program and the coaching staff there.”

Green has missed most of his senior season with a shoulder injury. He tried to make a return for senior night this past Friday but he wasn’t cleared by doctors.

Undeterred, Green still made a final attempt to play.

“He wasn’t too happy about not being cleared so he put on his uniform at halftime,” Vader Green said with a laugh. “But the trainers got a hold of his helmet.”

Father and son will be in Tallahassee for next week’s FSU-Florida clash.
