GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- The Florida Gators will be well represented at the Under Armour All-America game in St. Petersburg, Fla., on Jan. 4. The game, which will be televised on ESPN at 5 p.m. ET, will feature the top players in the country.
Florida leads all teams with seven players selected to play in the prestigous game. Florida commit Kelvin Taylor, the No. 1-ranked running back in the country, said he has dreamed about playing in this game since he was in the eighth grade.
"Ever since my eighth grade year, in the summertime, I have worked my butt off to get to this point," Taylor said when he was introduced with his Under Armour game jersey. "I feel like if I don't work hard every day, then someone else is going to get better than me. I've been working out so much, even after football practice, I'll come home and work out some more. I'll work at little details just to get better, because that's what it's going to take to get me to the next level. It's the little things you do. I'm just proud of what I've done and God has really blessed me."
Taylor will be joined by joined on the black team (team Highlight) by five-star Florida cornerback commit Vernon Hargreaves III. Taylor said he's looking forward to playing with Hargreaves and with the five other Florida commits who will be at the game.
"It's going to be great," Taylor said. "We got Vernon in there, and there's a couple more guys that are in the game. It's going to be a great experience to go up there and spend time with those guys and then go off to Florida and spend more time with them. It's really a great experience."
Joining Taylor and Hargreaves on the black team will be Florida wide receiver commit Alvin Bailey, safety commits Marcell Harris and Keanu Neal and defensive tackle Caleb Brantley. Linebacker commit Matt Rolin was also selected to the game, but Rolin will not participate due to an injury he suffered at the end of the season.
In addition to the Florida commits playing in the game, several Florida targets are also participating.
Defensive linemen Montravius Adams (white team), Elijah Daniel (black team) and Ebenezer Ogundeko (black team), wide receiver Laquon Treadwell (white team), defensive back Shaq Wiggins (white team) and linebacker Trey Johnson (white team) are all key Florida targets.
Adams will be officially visiting Florida after the game on Friday.
