McCrary sees future at Florida State

Kobe McCrary (Chipley, Fla./Chipley) has been a mainstay on the sidelines at Doak Campbell Stadium before kickoffs this season.

The 5-foot-11, 208-pound junior tailback has a reason for that, though. He says Florida State is where he wants to go, so he might as well spend as much time as he can there.

"That is the school I am trying to go to," McCrary said. "I know a couple of guys on the team and I went to camp there. Every time I go there, it is exciting no matter who they play. Savannah State, Clemson, anybody."

McCrary said there was a noticeable difference in the way the Seminoles played coming off a loss at NC State. Florida State didn't allow any room for Boston College to make it close.

"They didn't want to let Boston College even have a chance, or whatever," he said. "They came out swinging. My coach says, 'Start fast, finish strong.' That is what they did."

Beyond Florida State, several other programs are showing strong interest in McCrary. One SEC East school also has a firm grip on his attention.

"If I don't go to Florida State, I am going to try to go to South Carolina because they are looking at me," he said. "Louisville, Arizona, Florida, Cincinnati, Mississippi State and some other schools that I can't think of right now."

The next visit on McCrary's schedule is to watch Louisville host Cincinnati. And in the winter, he plans on going to Pittsburgh for their Junior Day.

Meanwhile back at Chipley, he continues to rack up the yards and the touchdown in a bruising, physical style.

"I am at 1,336 yards and 14 touchdowns right now," he said.

"I want to get faster. I am more physical. I am a physical back. Some people tell me I am like James Wilder Jr. because I am a reckless runner."
