ORLANDO, Fla. -- Class of 2015 athlete Jaylin Hayward (Tallahassee, Fla./Godby) might be just a sophomore, but the talented prospect is already receiving heavy interest from the in-state programs.
The 5-foot-9, 165-pound athlete, who totaled three receptions for 35 yards in Godby's 21-20 state championship victory over Immokalee (Fla.) Immokalee on Friday, said he is receiving heavy interest from several top programs.
"I'm hearing a lot from Alabama, Florida State, Florida, Miami and hopefully Oregon soon, but I'm not sure," Hayward said. "I have offers from Kentucky, FSU, Miami and Florida already."
Hayward said there are some schools that are already standing out to him.
"Oregon of course, Alabama, maybe Florida State because it's here," he said. "I don't want to go so far away from my family because I want them to watch me play. That's about it right now."
Despite not wanting to go far from home, Hayward, also a track athlete, insists he has legitimate interest in Oregon.
"Me being at Oregon, I can really see myself being there becuase of my speed," he said. "The spread offense they run is just like here. I could definitely fit in there."
Hayward said he has no plans yet to visit any schools over the spring.
"I'm just going to work hard to get better," he said. "That's really all I'm focused on now."
