Watch List DB Nick Glass to transfer

ESPN Watch List safety and Georgia verbal commit Nick Glass is looking for a new high school according to his uncle, Marcus Woods. The St. Pius X Golden Lions are scheduled to face the North Hall (Ga.) Trojans in the Georgia Class AAA semifinals Friday. Glass will not be suiting up for St. PiusX.

“Nick is no longer enrolled in St. Pius,” Woods said. “We will spend the next 48 to 72 hours to come up with where he can go and what will be good for him in the long run.”

St. Pius X head coach Paul Standard confirmed the news but declined to comment further.

“All I can say is that Nick is no longer at St. Pius,” Standard said. “He is a good kid and we wish him the best.”

Apparently Glass’ disaffection for the school came to a head recently. The feeling was mutual according to Woods.

“We put him in a position where he is amazingly uncomfortable socially," Woods said. "But because football had been going so well and you always want to go for the highest level of academic achievement, then that was the place to be. ... They made it to the fourth round of the playoffs so I think all in all they are happy.”

Glass hinted at a rocky relationship with St. Pius X on Sept. 14 after a loss to Thomson (Ga.) High School (read about his performance here) so his transfer is not surprising. He did not agree with the way he was being utilized on defense. Woods would not say if anything specific had happened since Glass’ game this past Friday to bring matters to this point.

“It is unfortunate because he stayed at St. Pius and worked through what was happening there because we had him thinking that was the best thing for him,” Woods said.
