During the middle of a very busy day, the Georgia Bulldogs coaches stopped what they were doing to talk to a recruit. He wasn’t one of the 2012 targets from whom the staff was eagerly awaiting word, but rather a high-priority recruit for 2013.
Defensive end Naim Mustafaa (Alpharetta, Ga./Alpharetta) now has a Georgia offer to add to his 12 others.
“Today I got offers from Georgia, Vanderbilt and Mississippi State,” Mustafaa said. “It feels pretty good. I have always liked Georgia.”
“I was supposed to go to the junior day this weekend but I wound up taking the SAT,” Mustafaa said. “My coaches told me to call them so I did from the office. I talked to pretty much all of the coaches.”
So did the extra attention from so many of the coaches impress the 6-foot-4, 235-pound defender?
“Yes sir, it might help a little bit,” Mustafaa said. “I know they were busy with signing day and press conferences.”
The Vanderbilt coaches also took some time to speak with Mustafaa when he called but he has not spoken with Mississippi State yet.
With all the offers coming fast and furious, Mustafaa is turning to his support network for help.
“I talk to my parents, my brother and of course Carlos” Mustafaa said.
“Carlos” is teammate Carlos Burse (Alpharetta, Ga./Alpharetta), the wide receiver with multiple SEC offers as well.
“We are both blowing up, getting a lot of offers” Mustafaa said.
One offer has made Mustafaa the object of some early recruiting pitches by his classmates.
“After Nick Saban came by, a lot of the Bama fans at the school started talking to me ” Mustafaa said. “They say a lot of ‘Roll Tide’ and stuff like that.”
