OT Maurice Swain takes in Athens

The Georgia coaches have sent out offers to 11 offensive linemen for the 2013 class and may not be done yet. One 6-foot-6, 300-pound prospect was in Athens last week.

“It went pretty well,” said Maurice Swain (LaGrange, Ga./Troup Co.). “They showed us a lot of the academic side, like where we would go to study hall and things like that. We had a good time.”

Swain visited with teammates Ricky Frazier, Reuben Foster and Cortez Leonard. He spent a couple days in Athens and took in the Bulldogs men’s basketball team’s upset of No. 9 Florida. While the game was “great and energetic”, that was not he enjoyed the most..

“I spent time with Coach [Rodney] Gardner and Coach [John] Lilly,” Swain said. “We talked about where I will be playing and what number I will be wearing if I would come to Georgia. My favorite part was putting on the jerseys. They gave me the big defensive tackle’s jersey, No. 6, John Jenkins. We had a good time with the players too.”

The talented lineman recently played in the Rising Seniors Bowl in Atlanta. He has a couple offers from Mississippi State and Ole Miss. He hopes to pick up one from Georgia as well.

“The coaches told me to come back for Dawg Night. I am trying to get down to Auburn next weekend and then later go to South Florida,” Swain said. “It would be good to have an offer from in-state school right now -- especially since it is in the SEC.”
