Dogs ninth in SEC in drafted players

For purposes of comparison, I put together a full list of the 61 SEC players picked this week in the MLB First-Year Player Draft and which teams selected them. Drafted players is not the only measure of success, but it is one factor in gauging the general talent levels of the conference's teams.

Georgia’s total of three players picked tied for ninth in the league, ahead of only Alabama’s two and Tennessee’s one. It’s no coincidence that Alabama and Tennessee finished with the two worst records in the league this spring.

Florida and Kentucky tied for the most players picked with nine apiece, just ahead of Arkansas’ eight. Ole Miss had six and both LSU and South Carolina had five. Florida, LSU and South Carolina will host NCAA super regionals this weekend and Arkansas will play in a super regional at Baylor. All four teams made it through NCAA regional play without losing a game.
