2014 RB Treyvon Paulk talks SEC

ATLANTA -- While running back Treyvon Paulk (Milton, Ga./Milton) has double-digit offers from which to choose, the 5-foot-8, 190-pound junior would still like to hear from at least one more program.

“Clemson is recruiting me hard and the Oklahoma State running backs coach came to see me,” Paulk said. “Miami came by to see me as well. But I would definitely like to hear from the Georgia Bulldogs. I was a big fan of them growing up. My whole family watches Georgia.”

Paulk has offers from Tennessee, Ole Miss, Wake Forest, North Carolina, Vanderbilt, Kentucky, TCU, Maryland, Eastern Kentucky, East Carolina, Appalachian State and USF so far. He says an offer from the Georgia staff would not automatically make the Bulldogs No. 1 on his list, but they would jump to his short list.

“If I got an offer from Georgia it would definitely put them up there,” Paulk said. “I haven’t heard much from them. Coach [Rodney] Garner came to my school to see me but now he is at Auburn. I talked to him on Facebook, too.”

In the meantime, Paulk plans to focus on the schools that have offered him.

“I have a few other places I need to visit like Clemson,” Paulk said. “The running backs coach there, Coach [Tony] Elliott, and I talk on Twitter. So I have to go visit Tiger Town. But one visit that I have planned for sure is Tennessee in late January.”

The Volunteers have a new head coach in Butch Jones. So far Paulk like what he sees in the former Cincinnati coach.

“I am definitely considering them,” Paulk said. “With that new staff they are bringing some new formations and stuff. They are going to have some spread and hurry-up but still plan to keep it traditional and run the I. I am a big fan so I am checking them out for sure. And it is the SEC. Everybody in the whole Vol Nation has shown me a lot of love, especially on Twitter.”

Another rising program in the SEC is coming after Paulk as well. The Ole Miss coaching staff has made the Peach State a priority for 2014.

“Ole Miss is really recruiting me hard,” Paulk said. “I plan to get back down there with them again, especially Coach [Matt] Luke. I went to their spring game. I will also show UNC some love because they have been recruiting me so hard.”

The Rebels already have a commitment from Paulk’s teammate, Class of 2013 running back Peyton Barber. The two formed a strong one-two punch in the backfield at Milton and the Rebels would like to have them repeat that formula at Ole Miss.

“I ran for 1,200 yards and had 17 touchdowns,” Paulk said. “My fellow running back Peyton Barber worked hard for it. We are a big running team. Here at the Rising Seniors camp I am the spread back. We are running everything through the spread. I am running swing routes, draws and the sweeps. In the game I will come in and get some work from the I-formation, too.”
