Recruiting a boon in UGA's preseason rank

ATHENS, Ga. -- With Georgia claiming the No. 5 spot in ESPN’s preseason college football top 25, the correlation between on-field expectations and recruiting success once again becomes clear.

Four of the five recruiting classes represented on the Bulldogs’ 2012 roster ranked sixth nationally or better in ESPN’s annual team rankings. And with Georgia losing only one upperclassman -- tight end Orson Charles -- to early entry into the NFL, its general consistency on the recruiting trail appears to have stocked the roster with enough depth and talent to contend for an SEC title.
