They Said It: LSU edition

Heading into the SEC championship game Saturday in Atlanta, the Georgia players and coaches have tried to keep bulletin board fodder to a minimum. Here are some of the more interesting quotes from this week:

“The people that say we have no chance probably haven’t watched a lot of football.” -- Offensive guard Chris Burnette

“They are not going to give you any space. They are right up on your snout and you have to earn everything you get.” -- Coach Mark Richt, on the LSU secondary

“Vegas -- it is their job to make it interesting. I guess that is what they did. LSU is a great team. They have blown out everybody they played so far. I can see why they say that. We have lost two games.” -- Cornerback Sanders Commings, on what oddsmakers think of Georgia’s chances against LSU

“No we aren’t. We are going to win.” Commings, on whether Georgia will also be blown out by LSU.

“That is very surprising. The improvements from last year have been unbelievable. I am very surprised. He is an unbelievable coach.” -- Quarterback Aaron Murray, on defensive coordinator Todd Grantham not being named a finalist for the Frank Broyles Award, an honor given each year to the nation’s top assistant coach

“The BCS is crazy. I’ll save that question until after Saturday if we win the game, then I will have my opinion on that.” -- Murray, on the idea that both LSU and Alabama could play in the BCS National Championship game without actually winning their conference

“Yes. For me personally, I haven’t asked anyone else, but yes. This game right here -- you are playing the No. 1 team in the country -- you have a chance to show off your talents as a team in front of the whole country.” -- Linebacker Michael Gilliard, on whether he has a chip on his shoulder heading into the contest with LSU
