BATON ROUGE -- The rosters for Saturday's spring game were released this afternoon, with the Tigers' white team looking like the favorite on paper.
The white squad, which will face off against the purple squad, is stacked with most of the roster's premier talent. Among the names suiting up for the white team are Zach Mettenberger, Spencer Ware, Alfred Blue, Odell Beckham Jr., Jarvis Landry, Barkevious Mingo, Sam Montgomery, Eric Reid, Tharold Simon and Tyann Mathieu.
Against that lineup, the purple team will field both backup quarterbacks, Stephen Rivers and Jerrard Randall, who will likely split possessions. Kenny Hilliard and Jeremy Hill look to feature at running back for the purple team, along with receivers Russell Shepard and Armand Williams.
Elliott Porter will get a chance to start at center for the purple squad, with P.J. Lonergan featuring for the white team. The purple team's defense will consist mainly of second-stringers, with one interesting exception. Both contenders for the Tigers' open defensive tackle spot -- Anthony Johnson and Ego Ferguson -- were placed on the purple team. It seems likely that move was made so that LSU coaches could see the duo going against the Tigers' starting offensive line.
Six Tigers won't dress out for the game -- safety Craig Loston, running back Michael Ford, wide receiver Kadron Boone, linebacker Tahj Jones, running back Terrence Magee and defensive tackle Mickey Johnson.
