GTN writers Gary Laney and David Helman discuss issues around LSU football.
Question: What LSU commits would you deem to be "loose" commits? Who's the most likely to decommit?
Gary Laney: This is probably a bit of a cop-out answer, but I think they are all pretty solid.
When I look for loose commits, I'm thinking in terms of guys who might not fit in terms of scheme or a player who might have picked a school too far from home and could have a change of heart, like Gunner Kiel a season ago.
Frankly, I don't see that guy right now.
The players seem to fit in a way that makes sense. I'd be more concerned if LSU had a commitment from Kendell Beckwith, given that some think he might be best as a 3-4 outside linebacker and LSU is a 4-3 program. But Beckwith, the top-rated player in the state in the ESPN150, remains uncommitted.
As far as players coming from out of the SEC footprint, both quarterback Hayden Rettig (Los Angeles/Cathedral) and offensive tackle Ethan Pocic (Lemont, Ill./Lemont) seem to be waving the LSU banner right now.
