Tiger 10: Newly Mintered leader

BATON ROUGE, La. -- LSU was dominant on defense and prolific on offense in three non-conference games, making picking a top 10 without slighting anybody difficult this week. But we give it a shot, with a new leader:

1. LB Kevin Minter: Not only is the junior middle linebacker leading LSU in tackles (21), but also tackles for loss (3), showing that LSU's dominant play at linebacker is back.

2. RB Kenny Hilliard: Broke 100-yard mark for the second time in three games and his 71-yard run where he bulled over a safety before outrunning the rest of the Idaho secondary is probably the Tigers' highlight run of the season.

3. QB Zach Mettenberger: Still has a bad play or two a game, but it's hard to argue with 17-for-22 for 222 yards and two touchdowns vs. Idaho.

4. QB Sam Montgomery: With Barkevious Mingo limping, Montgomery continued to wreak havoc inside. Now has 2.5 tackles for loss.

5. FS Eric Reid: Steady force at safety with 13 tackles and an interception.

6. CB Tharold Simon: He must feel like he's all alone out there as opponents choose to avoid him and throw the other way.

7. CB Jalen Mills: And when they do avoid Simon, Mills has made them pay with two interceptions.

8. DT Anthony Johnson: Not a starter entering the season, he's still been dominant with 11 tackles and 2.5 for loss.

9. WR Odell Beckham, Jr.: Bounced back from tough game against Washington with good one against Idaho. Leads team in receiving yards and return yards.

10. RB Alfred Blue: Still a steady force, just coming off a bad statistical game that dropped him to second on the team in rushing behind Hilliard.
