Each recruiting class John Beilein has signed since he arrived at Michigan has gotten progressively better.
He signed Zack Novak and Stu Douglass in his first full class. The next season he followed up with Jordan Morgan, Matt Vogrich and Darius Morris. His third class featured Tim Hardaway Jr., Evan Smotrycz and Jon Horford.
Then this year's freshman class, with guards Trey Burke and Carlton Brundidge was his best to date. At least until the Class of 2013 arrives on campus, led by Mitch McGary (Chesterton, Ind./Brewster Academy), the No. 2 prospect in the latest ESPNU 100.
So there's good reason -- beyond what Michigan is doing right now at 4-1 in the Big Ten -- why ESPN analyst Fran Fraschilla sees the Wolverines as one of 10 teams "built for the future" in college basketball.
