2014 LB visiting Michigan

When 2014 linebacker Nyles Morgan (Crete, Ill./Crete-Monee) walked into the gym, I had to doublecheck to make sure it was him. Standing at 6-foot-2, 210 pounds he had the build of a college freshman.

Morgan prides himself on his work ethic in the weight room, and his work shows.

"I'm going to do everything in my power to be a top player in the country next year," he said. "I'm always working out, I study my film and make sure I do everything right."

As the recruiting process seems to start earlier and earlier with prospects, Morgan has already been in contact with schools, and is even starting to take visits.

"I'll be up at Michigan with my dad this weekend," he said. "I've been hearing from Michigan, Michigan State, and my favorite linebacker is (former Michigan State linebacker) Greg Jones."

While it's still early in the process, Morgan said the schools he was hoping to hear from early on were Michigan, Michigan State, Alabama and Oklahoma State. He isn't originally from the state of Illinois, so he isn't partial to the Ilini.

"I actually grew up in Indiana, so I don't have any ties to Illinois," he said. "I'm just going to go through the process and taking my visits to see what best fits me."

Morgan prides himself on his ability on the field, and his athleticism has helped propel him into the national spotlight, and turned him into a multi-sport athlete.

"I am very skilled, fast, strong and I know where the ball is at all times," he said. "I also play basketball, baseball and I run track. I run the 4x200 and I ran a 23.9 in the 200-meter dash."
