Top 12 Prospect Countdown – No. 12

There are roughly eight spots left in Michigan's 2013 class, and there are still a few needs to fill. Some of the top prospects in the nation are still considering Michigan, and it would be tough to turn away those kinds of recruits. So WolverineNation will rank the top 12 uncommitted prospects for Michigan based on need and want leading up to the spring game.

No. 12

Tom’s pick: DE/DT Christian Lacouture (College Station, Texas/A&M Consolidated)

I picked Lacouture in this spot because Michigan still has a need at defensive line. A guy like Lacouture, who is currently around 6-foot-5, 260 pounds, can play five-technique defensive end or move inside and play three-technique defensive tackle. His versatility, athletic ability and potential have made him one of the more sought-after lineman. It still might be tough to pull him from Texas A&M, despite the fact he decommitted from the Aggies. Lacouture has expressed some serious interest in Michigan, though, and plans on visiting Ann Arbor for the spring game on April 14. This would be the kind of defensive lineman Michigan would really like to take since he could fill a couple of different spots.

Chantel’s pick: CB Cameron Walker (Los Angeles/Loyola)

I know he’s not on the ESPNU 150 Watch List and has only two offers to date, but he definitely seems to be underrecruited. He fits the profile of the type of bigger defensive backs that Greg Mattison seems to be leaning toward, and while the Wolverines already have two solid cornerbacks (Jourdan Lewis and Gareon Conley), Walker could find his way into the mix well with that kind of competition. Additionally, Walker boasts a 3.8 GPA, so academics will definitely play a part in his recruitment. Michigan was his first offer and he’ll be in town for the spring game. I don’t think he’s the best cornerback Michigan could get, but I think he’d definitely be an asset to the 2013 class.

Reader’s pick: WR Eldridge Massington (Mesquite, Texas/West Mesquite)

umdetroitfam - A big, skilled receiver from the heart of Texas. If Michigan doesn't land Laquon Treadwell, he wouldn't be a bad consolation prize.

ThatguyKai - Treadwell Jr. Big, fast Texas connection.

Grahamlish100 - Depth issues, and he seems like he could be another Hemingway-esque type player. Nothing wrong with that.

28garrett44 - Shane (Morris) seems to really want him. Good enough for me.

m1muller - Big wide receiver from Texas.
