Interest grows for 2014 N.J. RB

Michigan is still targeting running back Ty Isaac (Joliet, Ill./Joliet Catholic) in the 2013 class, but that doesn't mean the staff isn't already looking ahead. In fact, Jonathan Hilliman (Jersey City, N.J./St. Peter's Prep), a 2014 running back, is already reporting a Michigan offer.

"Around mid-April my coach told me about the offer," he said. "I watched a few of their games last year and I was thinking Michigan is back. I know they have an unbelievable program, and I really like Michigan."

Hilliman also holds offers from Rutgers, Boston College, Penn State and Nebraska. He's also hearing from Oregon, Tennessee, Notre Dame, South Carolina, Virginia and Wisconsin among others.

Standing at 6-foot, 200 pounds, Hilliman says he could see himself in any offense. Whether it's running up the middle or catching out of the backfield, he can do it. He believes he's a versatile back with size and speed. His experience running the 100 meter and 200 meter dash in track have also helped the speed aspect of his game.

Hilliman hasn't gotten fully immersed in the recruiting process yet, but says he does know a few criteria that he'd like to learn more about from various programs.

"Academics is tops for me because I know there's a life after football. You can never stop learning and you need to set yourself up for success past the football field," he said. "Campus life, and I want to find out about the coaches, how I get along with them, and I'd probably say the pro potential, too."

With a 3.5 GPA he is definitely concerned about the academic side of college. It's still early in the process for Hilliman, though, and he doesn't plan on making a decision anytime soon.

"I don't really have a top list or anything, but I grew up watching USC. That would be a dream for me," he said. "But I want to have my decision by my first game of my senior year. I want to know that's the school for me, no changing my mind, and then I'll announce it after my season."
