Michigan 2015 & 2016 B1G schedules out

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Starting in 2015, Michigan’s football schedule will have rivals as bookends.

The Wolverines will travel to Michigan State for their Big Ten opener on Oct. 3, 2015 and then close that regular season by playing host to Ohio State on Nov. 28, 2015. The next year, Michigan State will go to Michigan on Oct. 1, 2016 and the Buckeyes will play host to Michigan on Nov. 26, 2016.

This is all part of the Big Ten’s 2015 and 2016 football schedules, which were released Monday.

Wisconsin returns to the Michigan schedule after a hiatus, but the Wolverines do not play Penn State or Indiana in 2015 or 2016. Purdue is also off the schedule those years.

In the schedule released by the Big Ten on Monday, Michigan will play back-to-back road games once in two seasons, when the Wolverines travel to Northwestern on Nov. 14, 2015 and then to Iowa the following Saturday, Nov. 21, 2015.

Michigan also has back-to-back home games just once in the cycle, against Wisconsin on Oct. 10, 2015 and then against Minnesota the following Saturday.

Michigan’s off weekend comes in the middle of the Big Ten schedule in 2015, on Oct. 31 and after three games in 2016, on Oct. 22.

In addition to the Big Ten schedule, Michigan will play Notre Dame in Ann Arbor, Mich. in 2015 and then travel to South Bend, Ind. in 2016 as part of the continuous rivalry. The new Big Ten/Pac-12 arrangement is not scheduled to begin until the 2017 season.
