Campbell accepts civil infraction charge

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Michigan senior defensive tackle Will Campbell accepted responsibility for a civil infraction of blocking a sidewalk Monday morning in the 15th District Court in Ann Arbor, Mich.

Campbell had initially been charged with a misdemeanor of a minor purchasing, consuming or possessing liquor. He has since turned 21 years old, so the charge was changed and through his attorney, Donald Payne, Campbell accepted responsibility.

The charge was tied to Campbell's other legal matter, misdemeanor destruction of property. Campbell pleaded guilty to the destruction of property charge in June and will be sentenced Friday in the 15th District Court.

Campbell, who is expected to start for Michigan this season, owes $300 in fines and court costs from the blocking a sidewalk charge. If he pays before his next court date, Aug. 6, he will not need to show up to court again on this matter.
