2014 OL Mike hoping for Michigan offer

The state of Arizona is filled with top 2014 prospects across the board. From wide receivers Mark Andrews (Scottsdale/Desert Mountain) and Dionte Sykes (Chandler/Chandler) to offensive lineman Andrew Mike (Tucson/Sabino), the Grand Canyon state is an area Michigan is targeting for the future.

While both Andrews and Sykes currently hold offers, Mike hasn't been offered by the Wolverines, but he has been receiving a lot of communication.

"Since Sept. 1 I have received a lot of letters from Michigan every week. I plan on sending in my midseason highlight tape soon," he said. "I'm not worried about distance from home because I'm looking more for the mix of academics and great football like at Michigan."

The distance wouldn't be too much of a bother anyway for Mike as he does have ties to the state of Michigan, which led to his interest in the Wolverines. He would like an offer from Michigan, but knows that his position requires more time to evaluate.

"I'm very interested in Michigan because much of my family lives in Michigan. I visit every summer, but I understand every school has different time schedules for recruiting so I'm being patient for now," he said. "My family is in Holland, Detroit and Traverse City. It would make it easier for me because I have family close by."

Michigan isn't the only school showing interest in the ESPN Watch List prospect either. He is hearing from programs such as Oklahoma, Duke, Michigan State, Notre Dame, USC, Oregon, Alabama and UCLA, among others. Other schools are just now starting to get in the mix and it's safe to say that offers will soon be on the way for the 6-foot-6, 275-pound lineman.

Mike says he would like to take all five of his official visits next season, but knows that the reality of recruiting might make him speed up his process. If he finds the right fit then he would have no problem pulling the trigger for that school. He is focused on his season but says he would like to get some visits done this season.

"I am trying to work out a Cal and Stanford trip for a game," he said. "I have been to Arizona, Arizona State and UCLA games, too. I might try to see an Oklahoma or Washington game as well."
