Da'Shawn Hand sets visits

Defensive end Da'Shawn Hand (Woodbridge, Va./Woodbridge) named his list of finalists awhile ago, but only recently set up his official visits. Alabama, Florida and Michigan will all get a shot to impress the No. 4 overall prospect in the ESPN 300.

Hand will visit Michigan when the Wolverines host Notre Dame on September 7 in their second night game in program history. He'll visit Florida when the Gators take on Arkansas Oct. 5 and Alabama on Nov. 9 when the Crimson Tide faces off against LSU, he said through text.

Michigan gets the first crack at the 6-foot-4, 245-pound prospect and it is rumored that the Wolverines are ahead in this three program Don't put anything past Will Muschamp or Nick Saban, though, as both have proved themselves as top recruiters when it comes to five-star athletes.

Hand has tried to keep his recruitment as much of a mystery as he can, as he wants to keep people in suspense leading up to his decision on Nov. 14. He will make his final decision after all his visits at his high school in Virginia.

There are huge implications for each team in this recruiting battle as Hand could be an instant impact player at the next level.

At Michigan, it would give the coaches their second five-star and second top-five commitment, joining CB Jabrill Peppers (Paramus, N.J./Paramus), in the 2014 class. It would also give the Wolverines an excellent defensive line haul as Hand would be the third ESPN 300 commitment for Michigan in 2014 along the defensive line.

Hand would give Alabama ESPN 300 commit No. 14 in this class to go with defensive tackle commit O.J. Smith (Bossier City, Ala./Airline) and four-star tackle Johnny Dwight (Rochelle, Ga./Wilcox County).

Florida already has 12 four-star commitments, including 10 in the ESPN 300, so Hand would be adding to an already outstanding class for the Gators. He would allow Muschamp to get creative with his line as Hand is versatile in his abilities as well.

All three teams are ranked within the top-10 of ESPN's recruiting class rankings, so the addition of Hand would be a cap to these top classes.
