Thursday night's Big East clash between South Florida and Rutgers has attracted quite a few prospects including class of 2014 athlete Artavis Scott (Tarpon Springs, Fla./East Lake).
The 5-foot-11, 175-pound junior says he and several of his teammates plan to be in attendance at Raymond James stadium tonight.
"I want to check out the program closest to my home," Scott said. "There's definitely some interest there."
Scott admits that South Florida hasn't always been in the picture but recent events have changed that.
"Watching the game this past weekend and seeing Andre Davis go off like that left a little bit of an impression on me," Scott said. "It showed me that South Florida is opening up their offense and a guy like Davis, who's a local kid, is getting an opportunity to shine. It's a real good look for them."
Scott has offers from several top programs around the nation, including Florida, Florida State, Notre Dame, Ohio State and West Virginia.
Michigan is another program that's offered Scott and he is planning on going to the Michigan-Michigan State game next month with teammate Mason Cole.
"There's definitely some interest in Michigan, I need to get my transcripts over to them as a matter of fact," Scott said. "They aren't sure if they want me as a wide receiver or a defensive back. It doesn't really matter to me."
Recently Scott has been nursing himself back to health from a nasty ankle sprain that left him on the sidelines last week. The junior practiced on Wednesday and should be available to play Friday.
