Triple Option: K-State a trap game?

Every weekday morning, a member of the SoonerNation gives his take on three things happening in the Sooner sports world.

1. The Sooners missed out on two tight end targets Tuesday as Danny Mattingly (Spokane, Wash./Mead) and Christian Morgan (Plano, Texas/Prestonwood Christian) committed to other schools. Mattingly, who has an OU offer, chose Notre Dame while Morgan, who attended the Sooners football camp earlier this month but doesn't have an offer, chose Florida State. It's about time the OU coaches take a step back and re-evaluate their targets for 2013.

2. The college football playoff is official. Starting in 2014, four teams will be chosen by a selection committee to compete for the national title. Here's a good blog post on who benefits most from a playoff.

3. Could OU's game against Kansas State be a trap game for the Sooners? After reading Jake's post Tuesday afternoon, I think it might be. OU obliterated the Wildcats in Manhattan last season 58-17 (now known for the unveiling of the "Belldozer" package) and K-State was outscored 35-0 in the second half. But with an early season game, you just never know how OU will react to its first real test (sorry, UTEP and Florida A&M). Plus, the game sits between two bye weeks, which is a strange occurrence.
