Stoops connection gets Byrd to OU

Score one for Mike Stoops when it comes to Fresno (Calif.) Central East four-star safety Hatari Byrd. Ranked No. 293 in the ESPN 300, Byrd committed to the Sooners on Tuesday afternoon.

Most believed UCLA was out in front in the Byrd race, but the connection to Mike and Bob Stoops proved to be enough for the Sooners. Byrd said Mike Stoops has been talking to him since his sophomore year.
