Every weekday morning, a member of the SoonerNation gives his take on three things happening in the Sooner sports world.
1. The announcement of Blake Bell as Oklahoma’s No. 2 quarterback didn’t come as a huge surprise. Bell has stepped his game up since his redshirt freshman year. It doesn’t mean he’s automatically the guy for 2013. He’s likely the favorite but other quarterbacks, particularly Trevor Knight, Kendal Thompson and Cody Thomas could have their say so before all is said and done.
2. Oklahoma basketball hosts its Legends Alumni game at noon on Saturday. The basketball game is one of three events to be held during the reunion event with several Sooner greats including Mookie Blaylock, Harvey Grant and Stacey King expected to be in attendance. The Tip In Club Golf Classic will be held on Friday followed by the Wayman Tisdale Scholarship Fund Dinner at Lloyd Noble Center on Friday night. The alumni game is free to the public while the other two events are open to the public for a fee ($200 for the Golf Classic, $50 for dinner).
3. UTEP will debut new orange uniforms for their season opener against the Sooners. The Miners normally wear navy blue home jerseys but have added orange uniforms this season.
