Juco TE Emmanuel Bibbs down to ISU, OU

There are two days until the first day of the junior college early signing period, and tight end Emmanuel Bibbs (Yuma, Ariz./Arizona Western) is not sure which school he's going to choose.

Bibbs, a three-star prospect who is 6-foot-3 and 240 pounds, has been committed to Iowa State since June. He thought his recruitment was over. And then Oklahoma entered the picture. Now it’s a mess.

“Yeah, I have no clue right now,” Bibbs said. “At this point, I don’t know where I’m going to go.”

Bibbs won’t have to make the decision on his own. He completed his finals last week and is back home in the Chicagoland area with his parents. Bibbs is still prepared to sign Wednesday, but the Cyclones or Sooners can still make a last-second pitch. OU tight ends coach Bruce Kittle is definitely making the charge.

“When Coach Kittle called me up and said OU wanted me, I mean that’s a pretty big deal,” Bibbs said. “He came by last week to see my parents, and they loved him.”

Bibbs made an official visit to Norman, Okla., for OU’s thrilling win against Oklahoma State. It doesn’t hurt OU’s chances that one of his best friends and former Arizona Western teammate, running back Damien Williams, has had such great success with OU this season.

Bibbs said Iowa State sees him as a tight end, while OU sort of sees him as a little bit of everything. The Sooners see him as a combination of a fullback and tight end.

“They’ve seen my film and like my versatility,” Bibbs said. “I can do a little bit of everything. The position doesn’t really matter to me because I know when I get on campus, I can make something happen.”

Bibbs said OU coach Bob Stoops also made an in-home visit, while he said Iowa State coaches are expected to make one last visit either Monday night or Tuesday in hopes of keeping Bibbs with the Cyclones.

OU does not have a tight end commitment and is hoping to get two pledges for its 2013 class.
