Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops singled out offensive tackle Derek Farniok as one of the standouts of winter workouts. At 6-foot-9 and 325 pounds, Farniok is one of the biggest Sooners on the roster, yet he still appears slim and lanky with his unusual height.
“We call him Sasquatch,” tackle Lane Johnson said. “He’s a huge guy. He comes to work every day with a positive attitude and really works hard. I know he has a desire to get better and it’s showing.”
The redshirt freshman from South Dakota is expected to be in the battle for reps at tackle this spring and could secure himself a spot in OU’s tackle rotation with a strong showing.
“He has a competitive attitude and I think he knows he’s the next guy in line,” Johnson said.
