Staff picks: Oklahoma vs. Texas Tech

OU 26, Texas Tech 23

The Sooners have never lost back-to-back games in the Bob Stoops era, and I don't think it happens here, partly because I can't envision what Norman would be like next week should OU lose this game. The Sooners should come out with some urgency for that very reason. I think that will be enough to secure a must-win for the sanity of this program and its fan base.

OU 35, Texas Tech 28

Thanks to an early interception and touchdown, the Sooners take the Jones Stadium crowd out early. OU wins the turnover battle with two interceptions of Red Raiders quarterback Seth Doege and one fumble recovery to pull out the road win in Lubbock. Offensively, OU protects the ball, Damien Williams has a big day on the ground and Sterling Shepard proves he's here to stay with another touchdown catch. Justin Brown makes an impact with a punt return for a score as all three phases of the game directly contribute to a Sooner victory.

OU 23, Texas Tech 16

This game is going to say a lot about the psyche of the 2012 Sooners. And instead of putting the burden on Landry Jones to make a big play, it's going to be the balanced running attack of Damien Williams and Dominique Whaley that gets the job done. The two combine for more than 200 yards rushing and ice the game late in the fourth quarter as OU wears down Red Raiders defense in what will be a stern road test.
