Roundtable: Toughest remaining game?

Every Thursday during the season, the SoonerNation staff will answer a roundtable question about OU football. Leave a comment or talk about it in our "There's Only One" forum.

Today's question: Will West Virginia be OU's toughest remaining test?

• The Sooners haven't been the same dominant team at home, and in fact they've been better on the road. So I'll go with the best team. That's clearly Oklahoma State, which already handled TCU and West Virginia with ease. The Cowboys' QB injury issues haven't slowed them down as much as one might think, and now all three QBs are healthy. The OSU defense has also been playing better than it did earlier in the season. The Cowboys have been awful in Norman in their last three trips there. But, Norman or not, they're playing better ball than West Virginia or TCU and pose the toughest test.

• The toughest remaining game is the Sooners' lone home contest against Oklahoma State. Bedlam should be a battle as the Cowboys feature the most balanced offense in the conference and enough athletes on defense to cause problems for OU. While it's true the Cowboys have struggled in Norman in recent years, OU is undefeated on the road and has shown it can be knocked off by quality teams at Oklahoma Memorial Stadium. West Virginia and TCU will be good tests for the Sooners, but OSU is the best team remaining on the schedule. Thus they'll be the toughest test in the final three games of the season.

• Because of the explosiveness of West Virginia, it feels like the Mountaineers are the answer. However, I'm going with the last week of the season and that trip to TCU. The Horned Frogs are only 2-4 since a 4-0 start, but they haven't thrown in the towel, though they could have after the suspension of quarterback Casey Pachall. OU will be fired up for Bedlam at home for the first time since 2009, but the question is: Will the Sooners still have enough in the tank for TCU without having a bye week since September? The schedule has done OU no favors, and it will be a grind in Fort Worth, Texas.
