Crimson Countdown: LB Rashod Favors

Over the summer months, SoonerNation will take a closer look at each scholarship player on Oklahoma’s roster in our Crimson Countdown series. We'll analyze each player’s impact on the program since they arrived on campus, their potential impact this fall and their long-term impact in the daily series. Starting with No. 1 Tony Jefferson, the series will go in numerical order until our final analysis of No. 98 Chuka Ndulue.

No. 10 Rashod Favors

Linebacker/defensive end, 6-foot-1, 237 pounds

Impact so far: Favors has had a minimal impact in his first two years in Norman. His lone action came in the Sooners 62-6 win over Ball State last season. After redshirting in 2010, Favors spent his redshirt freshman season as a backup linebacker and did not record a tackle in one game played last season.

Impact in 2012: Favors remains buried on the depth chart and will have to improve his production to make an impact this fall. He has talent but there are several quality young linebackers on the roster and the sophomore hasn’t proven he can remain undeterred in his quest for playing time early in his OU career.

Impact in 2013 and beyond: With redshirt freshman Franklin Shannon and P.L. Lindley already making waves at linebacker, Favors will really have to step up his game to make a major impact at OU. He’s worked at defensive end at times so he could carve himself a role as a pass rusher if he raises his level of play.
