Every weekday morning, a member of the SoonerNation gives his take on three things happening in the Sooner sports world.
1. Judging from the response of Brayden Scott (Tahlequah, Okla./Sequoyah), it appears Oklahoma quarterbacks coach Josh Heupel has burnt no bridges in his pursuit of a 2013 quarterback. It shouldn’t come as a shock with how experienced Heupel is with the process, but some OU fans were wondering about how he handled things. Scott said it was a class act by Heupel to call him the night Cody Thomas (Colleyville, Texas/Heritage) committed to OU. Scott said that gesture is proof that their friendship won't end anytime soon.
2. Jeers to the Big 12 baseball tournament schedule. The conference fell into a gold mine with having the two local attractions in Oklahoma and Oklahoma State face off on the first day of the tournament. So this seems like an easy primetime start, right? Wrong. The Bedlam showdown is going to happen at 9 a.m. on Wednesday. OSU has taken three of four games from the Sooners this season, but a late run by OU has the Sooners in the fourth seed and the Cowboys seeded fifth. Very intriguing to see the attendance numbers for the 9 a.m. first pitch.
3. OU stopped by to see ESPN 150 wide receiver Laquon Treadwell (Crete, Ill./Crete-Monee) on Monday. Michigan has positioned itself well for the fifth-ranked receiver and 42nd-ranked overall player in the nation. However, the Sooners aren't going to go down without a fight. Treadwell was supposed to be at OU’s spring game but canceled the visit because of the severe weather that weekend. As stated before, the ace in the hole for OU is signee David Smith (Midlothian, Ill./Bremen). Smith has known Treadwell and offensive tackle Ethan Pocic (Lemont, Ill./Lemont) for a long time and fellow OU signees will say there isn’t a more likeable recruit than Smith.
