Wogan moves official visit up a week

Originally scheduled to officially visit Oregon next weekend, Ducks kicker commit Matt Wogan (Indian Trail, N.C./Porter Ridge) was forced to change his plans.

The No. 4 kicker in the country was scheduled to visit Oregon on the weekend of the Pac-12 home opener, when the Ducks host Arizona. His Porter Ridge team was scheduled for a bye next Friday, but there was a change in the schedule.

"I moved it up a week because this week is now our bye week due to a change in our schedule," Wogan said. "I am a little disappointed because I wanted to be there for the Pac-12 home opener against Arizona."

Furthering his disappointment, school doesn't start in Eugene until Sept. 23, so Wogan won't be able to get a full glimpse of the Autzen Stadium atmosphere.

"I've already been out there and seen everything so this is more about hanging out with the team, talking to the coaches and getting a better understanding of how the program works during the season," Wogan said.

While the campus won't be buzzing with the student body, Wogan still expects a great atmosphere in Eugene.

"I've been in the stadium and can only imagine what it's like on game day," Wogan said. "Even if it is against Tennessee Tech, I expect the team to play hard and the crowd to appreciate their efforts. It will be great to be there and see them play in person."

Wogan will be joined by his father and his brother on the trip and he hopes they will see what he sees in the Oregon program.

"My dad and my brother will be out there too. They just want to get a feel for things to make sure they are comfortable with it because it's so far away," said Wogan, who also plans to punt for the Ducks. "I know that Oregon is where I want to be, but this weekend will be a chance to confirm everything I took away from being out there this summer."

Wogan will be one of three official visitors as fellow commits Thomas Tyner (Aloha, Ore/Aloha) and Evan Voeller (West Linn, Ore/West Linn) will also take their official visits this weekend.
