Both Ted Miller and Kevin Gemmell went 4-1 last week. Kevin missed with his pick of Utah over USC. Ted missed with his pick of Oregon State over Stanford.
Beavers fans nod knowingly, planning all sorts of horrible things for Miller's cursed pick.
Both Ted and Kevin are 54-10 this season.
ARIZONA STATE at WASHINGTON STATE
Kevin Gemmell: It’s a heck of a lot colder in Pullman, Wash., in late October than it is in Tempe, Ariz. And the Sun Devils have had issues playing away from home this year. But I think the bye week did them some good. They got healthy in a few spots and if they can carry over the momentum from the Washington win, they should be in good shape. Arizona State 42, Washington State 27.
Ted Miller: If the Sun Devils want their season to turn out like they'd hoped in the preseason, they need to win their next two games on the road against Washington State and Utah. Of course, they have struggled on the road of late. I suspect they begin growing up with a tough win in Pullman. Arizona State 40, Washington State 30.
USC at OREGON STATE
Gemmell: We know about the Trojans’ recent troubles at Reser. And those were upper-echelon USC teams. My big worry here is the state of Oregon State’s pass protection, which was absolutely blown up last week against Stanford. If the Beavs can shore that up, then their passing attack should be too much for the injury-depleted Trojans. Oregon State 35, USC 28.
Miller: And so, in order to avoid enraging the entire Beaver Nation with another ill-fated Beavers pick, I will go against my best judgment. USC 28, Oregon State 27.
ARIZONA at CALIFORNIA
Gemmell: Nothing more we can say about Cal. They are young and injured. Nothing more we can say about Ka'Deem Carey. He is strong and studly. Strong and studly meets young and injured equals a win for the Wildcats. Arizona 38, California 17.
Miller: Arizona can't look ahead to the meatier part of the schedule. Based on the way they play at Colorado last weekend, I don't believe they will. Arizona 42, California 24.
COLORADO at UCLA
Gemmell: The Bruins will look to become bowl eligible and keep pace with the Sun Devils in the conference standings after dropping back-to-back games against Stanford and Oregon. The Bruins are heavy favorites, and for good reason. I don’t see them dropping this one. But their youthful offensive line better get up to speed quickly. And whatever has been ailing Brett Hundley has to change before the four-game finale that includes at Arizona, home to Washington and ASU and then at USC. UCLA 38, Colorado 21.
Miller: After tough road games at Stanford and Oregon, I think UCLA is going to play mad in front of its home crowd. I think Hundley comes up big, and OLB Anthony Barr will make life tough for Buffaloes freshman QB Sefo Liufau. UCLA 45, Colorado 20.
