Tyquan Lewis (Tarboro, N.C./Tarboro) made it official.
At least he made official the day on which he will announce his decision on where he will continue his athletic and academic career.
With his choices whittled down to Ohio State, North Carolina and LSU, Lewis has said he knows where he wants to go. It’s just a matter of days now before he makes that decision public.
The 6-foot-3, 225-pound hybrid defensive end/linebacker confirmed via text message that he will make his choice Sept. 20, a date that falls during his high school team's bye week.
A three-star senior, Lewis has been high on Ohio State's radar ever since the Buckeyes offered him a scholarship on June 10.
On July 27, he brought his mother up to see Ohio State's Friday Night Lights camp and stuck around the next day so he and his mom could tour the campus and get down to brass tacks with the coaches.
Here's what he had to say about his choices.
Ohio State: "It's the coaching staff and the entire thought of just being there. It was probably my best visit."
North Carolina: "It's close to home. I can go back and forth and see my family. But also, they have great coaches. I like talking to them. They always seem friendly and nice."
LSU: "Mainly, it's just the coaching staff they have. That and the competition level there."
Lewis is looking for his fourth consecutive championship with Tarboro and has his squad off to a 3-0 start.
He recorded 63 tackles and had 12 sacks as a junior.
